Roman Soldiers with Temple Spoils
This relief (c. 82 AD), from the Arch of Titus, depicts Roman soldiers carrying treasures from the Temple of Jerusalem after its capture in 70 AD. The prominent menorah symbolizes the sacred spoils paraded during Titus’s triumph. The monument celebrates Rome’s victory in the Jewish War and asserts imperial dominance.
