Ara Pacis Augustae
The Ara Pacis (13–9 BC), dedicated to the goddess Peace, was built to honor Augustus’s return from Hispania and Gaul. Used for sacrifices, its marble reliefs show myth, fertility, and imperial processions. Linking divine ancestry to Augustan rule, it proclaimed the Pax Augusta — Rome’s prosperity and order secured under imperial power.
