Amber with Plant Material under UV Light
This polished amber specimen from the early to mid-Cenozoic (30–40 million years ago) preserves the dark silhouettes of ancient plant fragments suspended in fossilized resin. Under ultraviolet light, the natural fluorescence of Dominican amber intensifies the contrast between the glowing matrix and its inclusions. Such specimens function as tiny time capsules, recording the structure of vanished tropical forests in remarkable detail.
