The Throne Torture Chair

This electric torture chair, nicknamed La Silla or El Trono (The Chair or the Throne), was used by Trujillo’s intelligence services during his dictatorship (1930–61). Prisoners were bound and electrocuted while interrogated, often to death. A symbol of terror, the chair reflects the regime’s brutal repression and systematic violation of human dignity and rights.
