This illusionistic ceiling fresco (1676–79) dissolves architectural boundaries to evoke a heavenly eruption. Commissioned in the Jesuit mother church, it glorifies the divine name IHS, radiating light and salvation. Angels and the blessed ascend, while the damned fall into shadow—embodying Baroque spiritual drama and the Counter-Reformation’s emotional power.
