Santa Maria dei Miracoli and Santa Maria in MontesantoCarlo Rainaldi
These twin Baroque churches (1675–81) rise at the southern edge of the piazza, with matching façades, domes, and lanterns framing the entrance to Via del Corso (Street of the Course). Though nearly identical, Montesanto on the left has an oval dome, while Miracoli on the right has a circular one. Their paired design reveals how Marian devotion and papal planning ordered Rome’s urban vistas.
