Colosseum Cavea
The surviving cavea (tiered seating) of the Colosseum (70–80) shows concentric rows of seats rising above the arena, framed by arches and upper walls. Marble benches once filled these tiers, with senators, nobles, ordinary citizens, and women separated by strict zones. This spatial ordering demonstrates how Roman architecture translated legal and social hierarchy into built form.
