This marble oscillum (50-100) shows a bearded Dionysus mask crowned with an ornate diadem and framed by stylized curls. The arching brows, ringed hair, and patterned crown imitate earlier Greek styles to evoke the god’s antiquity. Hung to sway in a breeze, such discs decorated garden courts and signaled Dionysus’ presence, linking domestic leisure with ritual imagery.
