Brass Wine Taps

These brass taps (16–17th cc.) were used to draw wine from barrels in municipal cellars. Wine was one of Riga’s most valuable imports, used in trade, as a gift of honor, and even in formal transactions. It was stored in vaulted underground cellars that doubled as ceremonial drinking halls.
