Empire-Era Musical Salon
This refined corner of Château de Malmaison showcases a richly decorated Empire-style upright piano and harp, instruments favored in aristocratic salons. The neoclassical motifs, such as laurel wreaths and lyres, highlight music’s civilizing role in Napoleonic culture. Music was central to Empress Joséphine’s court life in the early 19th c.
