Kind Rama Nattling Tosakanth
This mural (19th c.) illustrates a pivotal episode from the Ramakien (Thai Ramayana). King Rama, in royal armor, advances with Hanuman and the monkey army against the demon king Tosakanth, shown with green skin and elaborate regalia. Figures overlap across a shallow landscape, emphasizing movement and hierarchy rather than strict perspective. Natural pigments on plaster link the work to long-standing Thai mural traditions, while the battle scene visualizes the moral triumph of order over chaos.
