Ibex Petroglyph
Carved into a granite boulder in Cholpon-Ata, Kyrgyzstan, this ibex petroglyph (8th c. BC–5th c. AD) embodies both sustenance and sacred power. Its curving horns and dynamic stance reflect nomadic hunting rites and mountain spirituality, showing how animal imagery joined survival, ritual, and the landscape of the steppe.
