Chancay Musical Instruments
Chancay culture (9th–15th cc. AD) used membranophones in rituals, their sound shaped by skin stretched over ceramic bodies. This group shows a duck, evoking water and fertility; a feline, symbol of power and liminality; and a human figure, likely a ritual performer. Known as bombo or tambor, and akin to highland tinyas, such drums joined music, myth, and sacred performance.
