Mexica Eagle Warrior Statue
This life-sized terracotta figure (1450–1520) represents a Mexica Eagle Warrior, a prestigious class of solar combatants linked to Huitzilopochtli, god of the sun and war. Found in the House of Eagles at the Templo Mayor, the sculpture wears a beaked headdress and taloned leggings, evoking the raptor’s strength. Eagle Warriors led elite military campaigns and embodied the rising sun’s power in battle.
