Guanacaste-Nicoya Necklace with Shell and Jade Beads
This necklace (1–500 AD), composed of finely shaped shell discs and greenish jade beads, reflects the aesthetic and spiritual values of the Guanacaste-Nicoya culture. Shells symbolized water and fertility, while jade conveyed prestige and vitality. Such ornaments were likely worn by high-ranking individuals during ceremonies or as funerary offerings.
