Diquís Frog Pendant with Zoomorphic Heads
This gold pendant (700–1550 AD) from southern Costa Rica depicts a stylized frog, a symbol of fertility and transformation, adorned with zoomorphic heads along its elaborate crest. Such hybrid imagery reflects Diquís beliefs in animal spirits and spiritual metamorphosis, linking the wearer to cycles of renewal and sacred natural forces.
