Diquís Crab Pendant
This gold pendant from Costa Rica’s southern Pacific region (700–1550) depicts a crab in dynamic motion, capturing its curved claws and armored form. Crabs symbolized lunar cycles, protection, and adaptability, revered for their sideways movement and regenerative powers. Such motifs reflected coastal cosmologies rooted in marine life.
