Boat Structure and Fishing Scene

This drawing shows the inner frame (shpangoūti) of a plank-built boat and a fisherman casting nets from a dugout canoe (12–13th cc.). Such vessels were essential for navigating the Daugava and reflect the central role of fishing in medieval Riga’s river-based economy.
