Staircase of the Caseggiato degli Aurighi

This staircase (c. 140 AD) connected multiple levels of the residential complex. Its solid masonry reflects Roman engineering mastery, while the access to upper apartments illustrates the building’s function as multi-story housing for Ostia’s prosperous middle class.
