Dolia

These large terracotta dolia (1st c. BC) were used for storing liquid goods such as wine and oil, both in warehouses and directly aboard ships. With capacities reaching 1000 liters, dolia were essential to Ostia’s commercial life, reflecting the port’s central role in Mediterranean trade.
