Reconstruction of the Painted Ceiling Insula

This drawing reconstructs a Hadrianic-era insula (multi-story apartment block) (117–138). The four-story building combined residential apartments with commercial spaces and was accessed from the street through a covered passage. Balconies and shared windows suggest a densely inhabited urban environment. Frescoed interiors hint at the refined tastes of its wealthier residents.
