Façade of San Michele in Foro
This Romanesque façade (11th–14th cc.) rises in cascading tiers of arcades, each with unique columns, crowned by a monumental statue of Archangel Michael. Richly carved capitals and fantastical motifs evoke civic pride. The dazzling frontage conceals a simpler church, fusing spiritual solemnity with medieval grandeur.
