Allegory of the Apotheosis of GenoaGiuseppe Isola
This ceiling fresco (1840) shows a crowded scene of armored figures, winged deities, and clouds framed by ornate stucco. It functions as an allegory celebrating Genoa’s civic power and prosperity. Mercury at the center offers attributes of trade, while the armed female figure of the city indicates how commerce, warfare, and learning were linked to Genoa’s political identity.
