Golden Gate PavillonGilles Le Breton
Built (1528–30) under François I, this pavilion crowned the ceremonial Golden Gate of Fontainebleau. Designed by Gilles Le Breton, its triumphal-arch form and vaulted loggia embodied the new French Renaissance, merging Italianate elegance with royal power. Once richly gilded, it marked the palace as a stage of monarchy and magnificence.
