Guanín Rattle Pendant
This rattle pendant (700–1550 AD) combines flat plaques with hollow spherical clappers to produce sound. Made from guanín, a gold-copper alloy, it comes from southwestern Costa Rica. Such ornaments enhanced movement with shimmering and jingling, reinforcing the wearer’s authority in ritual or martial settings.
