Dying Giant’s Head

This sculpted head (early 5th c. BC) comes from a metope, the square panel between triglyphs on a Doric frieze, often used for mythological scenes. Part of The Gigantomachy—mythic battle of gods and giants—it symbolizes cosmic struggle and the victory of order over chaos.
