Ecclesia, St Peter, and Adam
This 13th-c. trio pairs Gothic sculpture with theological narrative. Ecclesia, holding a chalice and staff, personifies the victorious Christian Church. St Peter stands with the keys of heavenly authority, while Adam’s exposed, fallen body evokes the origins of sin. Set within restored Gothic canopies, the group frames the portal as a visual lesson in human fall, intercession, and salvation.
