Liebfrauenaltar Triptych
This Gothic triptych (three-paneled altarpiece) (1470–75), known as the Liebfrauenaltar (Altar of Our Lady), is carved from fir wood. The central panel features the Virgin Mary enthroned among saints and angels, with side wings containing biblical figures beneath Gothic canopies. Gilding intensifies its liturgical presence. It remains integral to Frankfurt’s Imperial Dome of St Bartholomew.
