Pont-Aven at Sunset
Pont-Aven’s main square, framed by 18th–19th c. inns and houses, was the town’s hub of daily life. Nearby in 1886, Paul Gauguin and fellow painters gathered at the Pension Gloanec, turning Pont-Aven into a cradle of modern art. The square thus reflects both its Breton mercantile past and the artistic ferment that reshaped it into a cultural landmark.
