Gundestrup Cauldron
This monumental silver cauldron (150–1 BC), found in a Danish bog in 1891, is Europe’s largest Iron Age silverwork. The panel shown centers on a clean-shaven face with stylized hair, flanked by animals and mythic beings. Its repoussé imagery blends Thracian technique with Celtic symbolism, suggesting use in ceremonial rites invoking divine power.
