Coastal Vegetation of the Madeleine Islands
Dry grasses, salt-tolerant shrubs, and hardy trees dominate the arid landscape of these volcanic islets. The windswept vegetation reflects the harsh Atlantic climate, while the basalt shorelines speak to ancient eruptions. Despite the desolation, this ecosystem supports nesting seabirds and resilient plant life.
