今天所见的这张床是19世纪的复制品，由路易-菲利普国王在19世纪30年代委托制作，当时他将凡尔赛宫改建为博物馆。17世纪在路易十四统治时期设计的原始床象征着王室的辉煌，但很少真正用于睡眠，而是作为房间的礼仪核心摆设。
