Cape Verde Cormorant with Chicks
Perched beside the Atlantic, an adult cormorant watches over its fluffy black chicks. Native to Cape Verde, this subspecies of the great cormorant thrives along rocky coasts. Its sleek, bronze-tinged plumage contrasts with the downy young, whose pale bills and awkward postures signal early stages of development. These birds are expert divers, fishing just beneath the waves.
